The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo performance runs for about 90 minutes from start to finish, offering a full evening of music, dance and military display.

Performances typically begin at 9:30 pm on weekdays and often also have an earlier 6:15 pm show on Saturdays. The show content remains the same each night during the season.

The Tattoo is an outdoor event on the Castle Esplanade and shows have never been cancelled due to rain. If needed, rain ponchos may be available for purchase, but umbrellas are not permitted.

Doors usually open around 45 minutes before the performance begins, and visitors are advised to be seated at least 15 minutes before start time to ensure entry.

The venue is walkable from central Edinburgh; the nearest stops are on George IV Bridge by Lothian Buses, Edinburgh Waverley Train Station is about a 10-minute walk, and Princes Street Tram stop is around 7 minutes by foot. Parking is not available directly at the Esplanade.
