With the buzzing cities of Manchester, Salford and loads more besides, there’s plenty to see and do in Greater Manchester.
Manchester has cracking footy (whether you prefer red or blue), great restaurants and tons of cult music. Salford has a stunning culture and entertainment hub at the Quays and it’s also home to punk poet Dr John Cooper Clarke (‘Evidently Chickentown’ is a classic).
But what else is good in this famous county? Stockport still has a gorgeous Art Deco cinema. Wigan has supercar racing at the Three Sisters circuit. And you can grab a pint at Ye Olde Man & Scythe in Bolton – it first opened in 1251 AD but they’ve upped the prices a little bit since then (we tried).
Kids followed you on holiday again? Get them out your hair for a while at the likes of the Legoland Discovery Centre, Sea Life and Play Factore.
Manchester sits neatly in the middle of a triangle, equal distances from Sheffield, Leeds and Liverpool.
