Need ideas for how to spend your weekend this autumn? We’ve got you

Go Back Read on

Summer is officially over. Weeps. No, seriously, it's well cold outside. Whether you’re happy (like most of the Days Out team – hello, cosy season) or gutted, there’s still tonnes to get up to on your weekends. You’ve gotta make most of them somehow.

Without further a-do, let’s get stuck into some mega autumn weekend plans.

Historic experience

Now it’s officially spooky season, you can get your scare on – in a totally season-appropriate way. At York Dungeon, you’ll meet one of Autumn’s icons, Guy Fawkes, and hear all about his perfect (or not) plan to destroy the houses of parliament and learn about his upbringing. Fun fact: he was born and raised in York – hence his presence in this interactive experience.

Why not make a day of it? York is a 10/10 Autumn spot. Just imagine it, crispy orange leaves, cobbled streets and historic castles. Someone get us a hot chocolate. Now.

Aquarium

The perfect year-round outing, the beauty that is an aquarium. Brighton’s offering ain’t your typical aquarium either, it’s the oldest one in the UK. Impressed? Well, you’re about to be blown away. In SEA LIFE Brighton, not only can you explore the Victorian Arcade, filled with rays, fish, octopi and anemones, you can venture out on the Glass Bottom Boat – an exclusive experience which’ll bring you close to the sea critters than you’ve ever seen before. Loads of people try this autumn day trip from London – it's just a hop, skip ‘n’ jump away.

Not your thing? Don’t you worry, there’s tonnes ‘n’ tonnes to have a nosey at – you know you want to.

Nature Walk

After something a bit more chilled? Autumn’s a great time for a nature walk. Gorgeous golden leaves and you get to feel all healthy and productive. We get it. Get your walking boots, hat and scarf firmly on, and get to walking – another undeniably Autumn thing to do.

Doesn’t have to be a national park either, your local park will do the job if you’re in a pinch – extra points if you see any Red Squirrels (that’s the ideal autumn weekend for ya).

Try something new

This time of year, it’s laughably easy to get in the routine of ‘same-old’, why not get your kicks and try something new? You could go low-key with a lesson in Archery or go all out with a Shark Dive experience – all from the familiar comfort of the Midlands, what’s not to like? That's Bear Grylls Adventure for you.

Oh, and you’ll get unlimited access to their Royal Marines-style assault course – now that’s not something you can do every weekend.

At Days Out, you can book the UK’s best attractions (y’know the proper FOMO inducing ones?) -- we know where’s perfect for you. Find your next adventure.
