Chill Out with These Days Out Which Don't Take all Day

Days out don't have to last all day - we love a short excursion out and about. Here are our favourite days out which don't take all day.

Go Back Read on

Sometimes you want a day out which only lasts for a few hours and we get that – we’re big fans of short day out too.

Whether you’ve just got other stuff on, or just don't fancy a long day, we’ve got you sorted with these ideas.

Family Friendly

So, you’re desperate to get the kids (and yourself) out of the house for a little while? Look no further than these family friendly (but extra fun) short days out.

SEA LIFE Birmingham

I bet you we’re expecting to see and aquarium on this list, right? We can’t argue with the facts. Aquariums are a fantastic short day out.

Total Ninja

Not only is this a cool way to spend your Saturday morning, but it also proves to be an excellent workout. It may sound intimidating, but Total Ninja has activities for most of the fam – with their Ninja Inflatable Course being suited to anyone aged 4+.

LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Manchester

What could be better than exploring the ‘ultimate indoor LEGO® playground’ for a quick day out. You’re right, there’s nothing better. This mini day out packs a real punch with nine rides and four immersive play zones (soft play for the toddlers). P.S: They hold adult nights too - perfect for an evening out.

Time for Adventure

When we say adventure, we don’t mean any crazy survival training, but we do have some pretty wild options to explore... Think shark dives, tree trekking and plenty more adventures.

Bear Grylls Adventure

Now, there’s loads to do at this spot. From shark diving and iFly to axe throwing and archery, there’s tonnes to try. And the handy thing is, most of the activities don’t take ages and ages – so you can do something more with your day than swimming with sharks, obviously.

Go Ape

If it wasn't obvious from the name, this one is pretty wild. There are various challenges to choose from (restricted by age and height). With the longest challenge only lasting three hours, it’s the perfect half-day adventure – we reckon it would go perfectly with a movie afternoon.

Paintballing

Ah, paintballing, the crème de la crème of activity days out. Delta Force is our fav – and it’s perfect for the whole fam, with options for both child (8+) and adult paintballing. Oh, and they’ve got locations scattered literally all across the UK, so you’ll definitely have one near you.

Something Different

Trying something new is a failsafe way to make a short day out feel like a long excursion – hence you’re getting more bang for your buck out of your weekends. You're sooo welcome.

Blackpool Ballroom

Now, we already know loads of you will be rolling your eyes right about now. But honestly, this is a great spot for a different kind of day out. Young or old, listening to some classic songs in a decadent ballroom (with the opportunity to dance to your heart’s content) is really something to enjoy.

Escape Room

We reckon escape rooms are the ultimate short day out – that is if you manage to escape in time... And they can be a great trip for smaller groups (we’re believers that less is more when it comes to escape rooms) - it’ll really get the cogs turning.

The Cheese Crawl

Everyone’s heard of a pub crawl, but have you heard of a cheese crawl? Manchester, Liverpool and London are all now spots to wander through while tasting varying cheeses along the way. Also expect an alcoholic cider on your adventures – and even a tricky trivia quiz.
