Days out in Towcester

What can we say about Towcester?

First off, it’s pronounced the same as the thing that turns your bread all warm and crispy. Which is a good start. And it’s also one of the oldest settlements in Britain – the former Roman town of Lactodorum and the border between the Saxon Kingdom of Wessex and the Danelaw.

Enough boring history though. There must be some other stuff here, right? Well, you can (hopefully) back a winner at the racecourse. Or become a winner on the Formula 1 simulator at Silverstone Interactive Museum.

Then treat yourself to something special at the market. And finish off with a beer or three at the 17th Century Saracen’s Head pub.

Kid’s stuff? Try 10-pin action at the Towcester Bowling Alley, Laser Quest or (for younger ones), the soft play area at The Entertainer.
