Tons of culture. Georgian architecture. Roman bathing. Let’s dive into Bath (yeah, we went there).
This Somerset city really is a cracking place to visit and a trip to the 1st century AD baths it’s named after name isn’t a bad start. They’re really well preserved and there’s even a pump room (probably for those self-powered jacuzzis). You can’t take a dip here anymore, but Thermae Bath Spa is a modern version that’s dead relaxing. No dive bombing mind.
And Bath’s Georgian architecture means it’s really got that elegant look sewn up. If you’ve only seen locations like The Royal Crescent and The Circus on telly before, they’re really lovely in real life. And it’s also a place to indulge your Gothic fantasies and cast a few spells – check out Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein and the Wands & Wizards Exploratorium for that kind of action.
Bath’s got some wild budgies that were released in the 1950s. Guess they’re pretty ancient too then.
