If you’ve not been to London before (or for a while), it’s great to see iconic sights like Big Ben (and get your share of its £80m facelift). But there’s lots of diverse stuff to see in Greater London. For starters, you can taste some of the spiciest jerk this side of Jamaica in Brixton. And Kingston-upon-Thames has kitsch antiques in That Vintage Shop and amazing gardens at Hampton Court Palace nearby.
Need something to keep the kids busy? Battersea Park Children’s Zoo has Bolivian Squirrel Monkeys, red-necked wallabies and fancy rats (yup, that’s a thing). And Gambado Chelsea is great for under 5’s, with a big soft play area, dodgems and a role play village.
Looking for a hidden gem? East London is the one with vintage treasures at Brick Lane and speakeasy’s galore in Shoreditch. Jellied eels are optional.
London had a gin craze far before you'd imagine - from 1720 for about 30 years, everyone including kids drank 2 pintssshhhh a week.
