Days out in South West

Down a bit. Left a bit. Stop. There it is – that corner of the map that looks a bit like a cow’s leg. The South West of England includes some pretty cool places, like Cornwall, Devon and Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire. The biggest city is Bristol (shout out to Banksy and the rest of Massive Attack), but Bath, Plymouth and Salisbury are worth a visit too.

Lovely hills, moors and beaches make it beautiful. It’s the sunniest part of the UK, with 1,600 hours a year, and there’s tons of stuff to do. Channel your inner Druid at Stonehenge (nude dancing optional), stay in a cute Cotswolds village, or try surfing in Cornwall. If you’re into plants, the Eden Project is the biggest greenhouse you’ve seen in your life. The Jurassic Coast’s got some of the world’s best dinosaur fossils – UNESCO says so. And you can even take a boat to the Isles of Scilly. Nothing much to see around here then, really.

A little more info about the South West

The village of Wookey Hole has nothing to do with Chewbacca’s bottom. But it does have some of Britain’s most haunted caves.
